Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday! Today is your 84th birthday. How I wish you could have been with us in the flesh.  I know you were with us in the Spirit.  I brought the special candle I bought for you - the lotus candle that I told you about. We lit it, and it opened just like it was supposed to, except the petal candles were immediately extinguished by the wind - except for one.  One of the petal candles continued to burn the entire time we were there. I tried to relight the others to no avail, but the one petal burned brightly!!  A friend of mine said that the one candle was you letting me know that you liked your candle and flowers and that we came to visit you on your birthday. I believe that!!!!  I think you were letting me know that you were there as we told you happy birthday. That made my heart smile.

Jacques started to sing to you, but just talked instead.  Do you remember his singing? haha When we would go to Padre's church, he would sing the hymns loudly, in French, off key and with gusto!!! Remember how the people sitting in front of us would sort of try to slide so that they were not directly in front of him. I love to hear him sing!

When we come back next time, we are going to bring grass seed to sow where you, Dad, Wanda and Jessica sleep.

I am going to bed now.  The workmen will be back first thing in the morning.  Hopefully, the end of the work is at hand.  I love you, Mom.  Happy Birthday!

Good Sunday morning

What a beautiful day it is here today. We have to go and pick out paint for the great room. I wanted to paint it red, but the construction people thought that would not be a good idea, as this is an old house, and something about the way the studs are in old homes. I would still like it red!!  So it shows up some imperfections in the wall!  I have a some imperfections, but I still wear red. My nooks and crannies may show up more, but I flaunt them, anyway!!

You like red, too.  Remember how cute you looked in your little red beret? You knew you looked fine. I remember that you told a nurse at your surgeon's office that you were 74 years old.  I reminded you that you were nearly 84.  You were horrified.  You said that if you were 84 you would be too old to find a boyfriend!

Got to go and get busy.  I sure do love you and miss you.

Workmen

Girl, do I ever need you here now. You remember that I told you about the mishap with the dishwasher, and what a disaster it created in the walls, ceilings, and under the tiles in the house?  Well, the workers have been working on it for about 3 weeks.  For 3 weeks I have had no kitchen at all. We keep trying to tell them that we need the kitchen finished before anything else, but they continue to work feverishly downstairs, and only occasionally doing things in the kitchen.  If you were here, I could tell them that you had said something bad about Bill Clinton.  Wow, would you get them! They would think the gates of Hell had opened upon them. I almost went screaming down the stairs with my hair all wild, but Jacques wouldn't let me.  As I think of this, do you remember the switches you would take to Wanda and me when we misbehaved? If you were to pick a switch from your tree in Heaven, and switch them a bit downstairs, I am sure it wouldn't take them long to decide that they want to work upstairs on the kitchen. Give it some thought!  I love you!

Yesterday Was Valentine's Day

Yesterday was Valentine's Day! Jacques took me dancing at the Atlanta Botanical Garden.  We had so much fun!! I remember when you and Dad loved to dance.  You did the jitterbug!  Jacques and I looked a bit like Mr. and Mrs. Claus out there on the floor, but I must admit, we were a really cool Claus couple! We had wine, and sweets - both of which will only serve to enhance our Claus images!  I hope your Valentine's Day was good. Bet you and Dad jitterbugged all over the place up there! I love you and miss you.
